FEDERICA PORELLO with support of Teatre Principal de Palma. Exchange with L’Animal a l’esquena
Dates: from 5 to 6 of December
SYNOPSIS:
Musicality of the gesture
The analogy between dance and music provides an inexhaustible amount of tools and a way to produce and read the movement that feeds creativity, precision listening to the voice of the gesture.
We can think of the gesture as a sound, on a note, the smallest fragment of a musical phrase, observing how its tone, dynamics, duration, specific volume nourish our physical and emotional imaginary.
Through improvisation tasks, which allow us to put ourselves in a creative state of alertness and listening to the present, different topics will be addressed: the articulation of the movement, moving from one form to another, examining the how, clarity, and readability of each gesture; the dynamics, traveling between control and uncontrollability, in imbalance, in suspension, letting go and taking over the reins of actions; muscle tension, holding, pushing, receiving, moving and being moved for the other, playing with variation muscle tone causes different physical and emotional reactions; the relationship, copying the other's gesture, or composing a rhythm in more voices; dissociation, fragmenting the unity of the body into different parts and thus generating a polyphony of actions; the silence, intensity, and importance of pauses in the instant writing of choreographic phrases.
We will use these elements, separately and in connection, as a motor to compose a visual music, and to experience the communicative potential of this vocabulary.
