ZOE GYSSLER with support of the Teatre Principal de Palma

 SYNOPSIS:

Since 2018, Zoe Gyssler has been working with a group of 7-8 dancers / actors, with the fiction that this group invites the public on a strange and exciting journey into the history of a town where a mysterious murder takes place. Inspired by a game called "The Werewolf of Castronegro" the dancers / actors must find the killer and invite the audience to participate.

What begins as a game for the public is revealed in a serious reality, which deals with hierarchical structures, reflections between good and evil, right and wrong.

During the residency Gyssler wants to continue researching the characters based on the Stanislawsky method. Another topic is the research on the game: How are strategies applied? How can you play the game without communicating with words? What are the codes?

BIOGRAPHY:

Zoe Gyssler 

She is a choreographer, dancer and pedagogue. Originally from Switzerland, she grew up in Mallorca where she currently lives. After a long training in artistic gymnastics, she studied dance in Varium, Barcelona and at the "Academy for Music and Dance Jerusalem" in Israel.

Back in Switzerland, she worked as a freelancer for the Cathy Sharp Dance Ensemble, Marcel Leeman, Edan Gorlicki, and developed her own work as a creator and educator. In 2013 she co-founded the dance group Bufo Makmal and created "Into Pieces" and "ALL.ES". Shortly after receiving her BA in Anthropology of Culture and Sports Science in 2015, she joined the Johannes Wieland Dance Company in Kassel for 3 years.

While part of the company at the Staatstheater Kassel, she worked with guest choreographers such as Maxine Doyle, Tom Weinberger and Helder Seabra. In 2019 she worked with Wim Vandekeybus at the Residenztheater in Munich.

Simultaneously she develops his own choreographic work.
